EVE vs TOT Match Preview
Everton would not have wanted the international break in the middle of a three-game unbeaten run they stitched together in the Premier League. They returned to club football this weekend with a different matter to look off the pitch. The Toffees are accused of breaching financial fair play rules in the investigation by the league which could see their points get deducted. It will be a huge blow for the side currently fighting for their lives to stay in the league. Everton are placed 18th in the league with just a point from safety, level with Leeds United a place above them, but any points deduction could derail their season although it is not clear yet whether the punishments will be imposed this season or the later. The club strongly denies all the allegations but it is the latest conundrum with their board the fans will be upset about. Amid the chaos, Sean Dyche’s men will do what is necessary on the pitch and on their excellent 2-2 draw away at Chelsea last month against another club from London in Tottenham. Even though Spurs are having a crisis of their own, Everton will have to do a lot to maintain their run by overturning their poor home record in this fixture having not won since 2012. One win in the last 20 meetings also paints a grim story as they have to avoid defeats at all costs in one of the tightest relegation battles the league has witnessed.
The board of Tottenham Hotspurs also had a lot of unrest moments last week. First, they had to sack head coach Antonio Conte after his storming press conference in which he openly criticized his players but most importantly almost held the board responsible for the trophyless season the club had to go through so far. This came following the 3-3 draw against the bottom-placed side Southampton at St Mary’s before the international break, leaving Spurs in fifth now with Newcastle win over Manchester United on Sunday. Adding to that, managing director Fabio Paratici’s 30-month ban from Italian football was extended worldwide by FIFA resulting in abruptly walking out from his role. The club is unlikely to fill either of the roles with someone before the end of the season, especially the head coach so it puts the burden on the interim Cristian Stellini to take the club out of the crisis and into the top-four with only 10 games left in the league. Dropping off the Champions League will add to the woes of the season and a huge loss considering the ambition the club brought in appointing Antonio Conte in the first place. Stellini now has to go about an incredible run like his predecessor did at the tail end of last season to rescue this one although no victory in their last five away games in all competitions will play a detonating factor in their trip to Goodison.

EVE vs TOT Team News
Everton have not picked up any fresh injury concerns ahead of the clash with Tottenham with striker Dominic-Calvert Lewin back in training but is yet to join his teammates in full sessions. He picked up a thigh injury after Sean Dyche’s first game in charge of the club against Arsenal early February and has not featured since. The players involved in the international break have returned to club training unscratched including Nathan Paterson of Scotland.
However, the visitors have a lot of injury issues troubling them with both Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon with hamstring problems ‘pushing to recover.’ Ivan Perisic was taken off holding his calf late in Croatia’s 2-0 win over Turkey last week but Stellini confirmed the left wing-back is well and would recover in time for the trip to Goodison. Richarlison is a doubt against his former side after just taking off inside five minutes in the 3-3 draw with Southampton while Emerson Royal is out at least the end of the month due to a meniscus injury picked during his international commitments for Brazil. Captain Hugo Lloris had been back in training since last week but Rodrigo Bentancur is out till September with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
