The group A match between Wales and Switzerland ended in a draw after Switzerland dominated the majority of the game.
Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore headed home the equaliser in the 74th minute to salvage a very crucial point for the dragons.
Switzerland started the game strongly, keeping hold of the ball for large portions and not taking any risks. Despite the Swiss dominance, it was Wales who came closest to taking the lead when Kieffer Moore headed Daniel James' cross on target but Yann Sommer made the save. Switzerland's best chance in the 1st half came from a set-piece when Fabian Schar flicked Xherdan Shaqiri's corner on target before Joel Ward made a quick reaction save. The first half ended goalless at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
Switzerland started the 2nd half from where they left. In the 49th minute, Breel Embolo opened the scoring after heading Xherdan Shaqiri's corner towards goal. Switzerland continued to dominate the game for some time. Wales then had their only period of domination which was rewarded when Kieffer Moore scored off Joseff Morell's cross after a short corner.
After the game was all square no team created any big chance until Switzerland substitute Mario Gavranovic looked to have made an instant impact only to be ruled out by VAR for offside after which the game eventually ended in a draw.

Welsh superstars Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey couldn't get themselves into the game in the first half. Ramsey in particular saw very little of the ball before Moore's equaliser. The equaliser somewhat turned the tide and Ramsey was a part of a few good Welsh moves. Bale on the other hand didn't have any significant involvement having started the game on the right-wing. In the 75th minute, Bale switched to the left and started playing a bit better but still not significant enough to create a big chance. His Spurs teammate Joe Rodon had a solid game in the centre of defence. Rodon made 3 to 4 very important interventions to disrupt the Switzerland attacks.
Both Switzerland and Wales are joint 2nd in group A. Switzerland play current group leaders Italy next while Wales take on Turkey. The positive thing for both teams after securing a point is that even 3rd placed teams have a good chance to make it to the next round of the competition.
Man of the match:
Breel Embolo -
The Borussia Mönchengladbach forward ran the show for Switzerland. His pace and explosiveness caused Wales all sorts of troubles. He won the corner which eventually led to him scoring a header. Embolo came close to scoring another goal on 2 or 3 occasions. The forward also dropped back to help his side defensively, making some important blocks in the process.
