The NBA 2K League is an e-sports league created by Take-Two Interactive and the National Basketball Association. On February 9, 2017, the league was announced. On May 4, 2017, it was announced that during the inaugural season of the NBA 2K League in 2018, 17 of the 30 NBA teams would have their own squad. NBA 2K is still the best basketball game in the world. Despite its clear deficiencies, it has consistently outperformed its competition, EA's NBA Live, in recent years.
The NBA 2K League and Twitch announced a multiyear collaboration on April 18, 2018, to live stream all games. The inaugural season began on May 1, 2018, and Knicks Gaming won the inaugural 2K League championship on August 25, 2018. The league's games were live-streamed for the second season on YouTube and Twitch, which began on April 16, 2019.
How to qualify?
A player must be over the age of 18 and own NBA 2K on either the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to be eligible for the league draft. In Pro-Am mode, players had to win a certain number of games and then submit an application. After that, the players that qualified took part in a combine from February 2 to 21, 2018. Only a small number of people were invited to the draft. For the upcoming 2021 season, the NBA 2k league has revealed a new tryout method.
The "NBA 2K League Draft Prospect Series," a League-hosted event featuring winning teams from these tournaments, and a first-of-its-kind NBA 2K League Combine will all be part of the new model. Only players who are qualified for the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft will be invited to the League's winners' event and the Combine, giving NBA 2K League teams an unrivaled opportunity to evaluate prospects before the Draft while competing in high-intensity action.
How much money do players make?
A base wage of $38,000 will be paid to all NBA 2K League players who competed in the 2020 season and were retained by teams prior to the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft. A base wage of $35,000 will be paid to first-round picks in the 2021 Draft. A base payment of $33,000 will be paid to players selected in the second round or later.
Players will receive paid lodging in their team's market for the entire season besides their base income, and relocation expenses will be included in compensation packages. Medical insurance and a retirement plan are two more perks. Overall, if you can gain the job, it's a rather rewarding position. Especially since you have the option of negotiating your own sponsorship.
