After a big win in the first WODI, hosts India Women continued their winning streak against South Africa Women with a thrilling victory in the high-scoring second WODI at Bengaluru, which are part of the ICC Women's Championship. During the match, we experienced many WODI records, including the most centuries in a WODI match, the joint most centuries by an India Women batter by Smriti Mandhana, the second most aggregated runs in a WODI match, etc. Smriti Mandhana, who also hit a century in the previous WODI (117), also created history for her country by scoring centuries in two successive WODI matches.

After South Africa Women chose to field first, India Women scored 325/3 in 50 overs. While the opener Smriti Mandhana hit her second consecutive WODI ton (136 off 120 balls), captain Harmanpreet Kaur was not out for 103 runs in 88 balls.


In reply, South Africa Women were once struggling at 67/3. However, the twin centuries from skipper Laura Wolvaardt (135 not out in 135 balls) and Marizanne Kapp (114 in 94 balls) strongly helped the visitors return to the game.



In the last over, South Africa Women required 11 runs. Although Deepti Sharma conceded a four in the second ball to make the chase six off four balls, her two consecutive wickets in the next two balls set the tone for India Women. The visitors finally scored 321/6 as India Women won by four runs.

Highest WODI total for India Women in India  

India Women scored 325/3 in 50 overs.

  • It was the highest Women’s ODI total for India Women in India. In fact, it was India Women’s first 300+ WODI total at home. Their previous record was 298/2 against West Indies Women at Dhanbad in 2004.
  • It was the third-highest Women’s ODI total for India Women. Their top two WODI totals are 358/2 (vs Ireland Women at Potchefstroom in 2017) and 333/5 (vs England Women at Canterbury in 2022).

India Women star Smriti Mandhana hit her seventh Women’s ODI century.

  • Mandhana equaled the record for most Women’s ODI century for India Women. Legendary cricketer Mithali Raj was the previous lone record holder with seven WODI centuries.

3rd highest WODI score by an India Women opener   

India Women’s opener Smriti Mandhana scored 136 runs.

  • It was the third-highest score by an India Women opener in Women's ODI history. The top two records on this list are 188 by Deepti Sharma (vs Ireland Women at Potchefstroom in 2017) and 138 not out by Jaya Sharma (vs Pakistan Women at Karachi in 2005).

South Africa Women’s captain Laura Wolvaardt scored 135 not out.

  • It was the highest score in a Women’s ODI by a captain against India Women. The previous record was 115 by Chamari Athapaththu at Katunayake in 2018.
  • It was the second-highest score against India Women in Women’s ODI history. The record is 156 not out by Claire Taylor at Lord’s in 2006.  


South Africa Women recorded the highest WODI total in the second batting   

South Africa Women scored 321/6 in 50 overs.

  • It was the record for the highest Women’s ODI total in the second innings. The previous record was 305/9 by South Africa Women against England Women at Bristol in 2017.
  • It was the third-highest Women’s ODI total for a team against India Women. The top two records on this list are 338/7 by Australia Women (at Wankhede in 2024) and 332/7 by Australia Women (at Vadodara in 2018).


The second-highest WODI aggregated total   

India Women vs South Africa Women's match produced an aggregated total of 646 runs.

  • It was the second-highest aggregated total in a Women’s ODI match. The record is 678 runs by England Women vs South Africa Women at Bristol in 2017.


Most sixes in a WODI match   

India Women vs South Africa Women match experienced a total of 15 sixes.

  • It was the new record for most sixes in a Women’s ODI match. The previous record was 14 sixes in the 2012 WODI of Australia Women vs New Zealand Women at North Sydney.
