In a previous article the relevance of ODI Cricket was talked about and how can that format be revived was also talked about as well so in this article all the 3 formats of cricket will be compared to each other simply on the basis of excitement in the format and the fan interest in that format of the game. Cricket is Perhaps the only major sport that has 3 such different formats to play the same game but in different ways.
Test Cricket has been there since 1877 which is 145 years old so that format has a very special place in the hearts of all the players from any generation. Then the ODI format is 50 years old and the condition it is in need not be said and then the T20 format which is 20 years old has grown so much.
So, let’s rank all these 3 formats of Cricket:
1) T20 Cricket
This ranking is solely based on the level of excitement and fan interest in that particular format and there is no format of cricket that has more of both of these things than the T20I format of Cricket. It has only been 20 years since the world started playing the T20 format but in these 20 years the growth has been exponential and nobody could have predicted that T20 cricket would take over like this. The franchise leagues around the world have played a huge role in this such as the IPL in India, Big Bash in Australia, PSL in Pakistan, Caribbean Premier League in West Indies, BPL in Bangladesh and so on and all these nations and more are most interested in T20 cricket and that also brings the most amount of revenue.

2) Test Cricket
There is no doubt that Test Cricket is the pinnacle of cricket when it comes to skill and determination and patience but it just falls behind in terms of excitement and fan interest but not by much. Still when a test match goes to 5 days and the result is not known that is the best cricket in the world but the issue is that there are not many test matches like that which happen that would excite fans all the time for test cricket. However any achievements in test cricket are given the most importance by the fans and this format of cricket will always be there.
3) ODI Cricket
The third most exciting format of cricket is the ODI format and it is a very distant third from test cricket. Test Cricket has its own audience and that will never go away and the T20 format has its audience growing year after year so that will continue to grow but the ODI format is getting sandwiched in the middle and frankly there is very little excitement and fan interest in ODI cricket and hopefully the excitement comes Back soon because cricket will be better with ODI cricket thriving.
