Last Wednesday (9 August), during the Group B match of the English One-Day Cup 2023 between Northamptonshire and Somerset at Northampton, the 23-year-old Indian opener Prithvi Shaw scored a record-breaking double-century. With his 244 runs knock, the right-handed batter recorded the highest individual score in the English One-Day Cup history.

While Shaw completed his century in the match in 81 balls, he completed 200 runs in 129 balls. It was Shaw’s second double-century in his List A career (227 not out for Mumbai vs Puducherry at Jaipur on 25 February 2021). His batting helped Northamptonshire to manage the seventh-highest total in the competition history, 415/8 in 50 overs.
