Krunal Pandya made a much-awaited One Day International debut in the first match against England. Krunal and Hardik Pandya lost their father earlier this year. Both the brothers were seen getting emotional when Hardik gave Krunal his debut cap.
Krunal Pandya came in to bat at number 7 when India were struggling at 205/5 in the 41st over. The leftie built a 112 run partnership with KL Rahul to get India to a formidable total of 317 runs. Krunal scored the fastest 50 by any player on debut as he scored 58* off just 31 balls. The Baroda All-rounder also became the first Indian to score an ODI Half-Century batting at no.7.
Krunal Pandya dedicated his knock to his late father. Krunal had a tough start with the ball but recovered well as he finished with the figures of 59/1 in 10 overs. Sam Curran was his maiden ODI wicket.
Pandya will be keen to perform well in the remaining 2 matches after a successful debut. His position in the ODI squad is still not cemented as the eventual return of the injured Ravindra Jadeja would mean that Krunal will have stiff competition in the All-rounder spot.
