India vs Pakistan Super 4s Match Review | Asia Cup 2022

Just like we did last week after the India vs Pakistan match , this week as well we will write a match review for the match that happened yesterday which was also the first match of the Super Fours for both these teams. It was yet again a brilliant match of cricket where both the teams gave it their all and fought till the last ball of the match and that’s what aa fans we all want to see these 2 good teams fight and have a close match. We will talk about the detailed analysis below but hopefully all future India vs Pakistan Matches are as good as the Two we witnessed in the last 2 Sundays.

Before we talk about the Review, I have to say that watching this Asia Cup has reaffirmed my belief that more multi nation tournaments should be held in cricket and more people will watch it and it will be good for the sport like Tri nation series or four nation. Any team can play anyone and the opponents are fresh and the skills are tested in a different way. Let’s get to the match review.

Pakistan win toss but India win first powerplay

This time around it was Pakistan who had won the toss and chose to bowl first and this was an important toss to win for them. However the openers for India had other plans as they went all guns blazing in the first 6 overs and put the Pakistan bowling under serious pressure and both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul went for the shots and they were hitting fours and sixes so much so that India got their highest powerplay score at 61/1.

Kohli bosses the middle phase

If the powerplay was the show by the openers then the middle phase of the Innings was the Virat Kohli show as he was back at his best and he was taking the game deep as well as playing his Shots and from the other end other batters were coming hitting few shots and getting out but the score was going nicely. Virat Kohli stayed at one end and that ensured that India did not lose much momentum going into the death overs.

Pakistan make a comeback

The death overs of the Indian innings was where Pakistan made a comeback in this match as they got wickets at regular intervals and they got the wicket of Virat Kohli as well and the other batters were not able to do much and the fast bowlers of Pakistan were bowling extra fast and they rattled the batters but in the last 2 balls of the Innings Ravi Bishnoi hit 2 fours to take India to 181 in 20 overs.

Babar gone early but Rizwan holds fort

Pakistan got off to a bad start as they lost their Captain early as Babar Azam continued his bad run of form in the Asia Cup and he got out but then it was Mohammad Rizwan who took center stage and took control of the innings along with Fakhar Zaman. They got Pakistan to past 40 runs in the first 6 overs with 1 wicket lost. It was a good start.

The game changer Mohammad Nawaz and Rizwan bossed the middle overs

When Fakhar Zaman got out in the middle overs Pakistan sent out Mohammad Nawaz who totally changed the complexion of the match with his brutal Innings and gave Pakistan the momentum they needed. He made 42 valuable runs from just 20 balls and from the other end Rizwan was doing his bit and he made a brilliant 71 runs and when they both got out Pakistan were in the driving seat going into the death overs.

Khushdil Shah and Asif Ali finish it off

In the death overs Pakistan were the favorites to win but India made a comeback late but Arshdeep Singh dropped a sitter and Asif Ali got a lifeline and he cost India the match. He and Khushdil punished Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 19 runs and they won the match with 1 ball left to spare. It was an exhilarating match and hopefully these 2 teams meet again in the final next Sunday.
