Pakistan openers had a 128-run partnership for the first wicket, where Azhar Ali scored 59 off 71 balls. During the ICC Champions Trophy 2004 group stage match, the USA skipper Richard Staple sent the Blackcaps to bat first, who produced a record total in the tournament history – 347/4 in 50 overs. Although the USA bowlers were in control in the early period of the innings, Nathan Astle and Scott Styris produced a 163-run partnership for the third wicket.
