During their last game of the Group Stage in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, England Women thrashed Pakistan Women. The dominant English side not only became the first team to manage 200+ total in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history but also recorded the largest winning margin in this competition's history.
England Women: 1st to score 200 runs in WT20WC
At first, England Women captain Heather Knight chose to bat first in that last Group 2 game at Cape Town. With the help of the opener Danni Wyatt (59 off 33 balls; seven fours and two sixes), Nat Sciver-Brunt (81 not out off 40 balls; 12 fours and only six) and wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones (47 off 31 balls; five fours and only six), the English side set the mammoth total of 213/5 in 20 overs.
In that same innings, Pakistan star Nida Dar (126 WT20I wickets) also became the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20 international history after bettering the previous record of West Indies off-spinner Anisa Mohammed’s 125 WT20I wickets.
England Women won by record-breaking 114 runs
In that same WT20WC 2023 Group 2 match, England Women won by 114 runs after restricting Pakistan Women to 99/9 (20 overs). It was the largest victory margin (by runs) in the WT20WC history as the English team broke the previous record of South Africa Women’s 113-run win against Thailand Women at Canberra in 2020.
