During the third day of the Deodhar Trophy 2023, East Zone recorded a stunning win against North Zone after a record-breaking sixth-wicket partnership between the middle-order batters Riyan Parag and Kumar Kushagra. Their 235-run partnership for the sixth wicket created a new record partnership for the sixth wickets in Indian List A history.
It was a tough start for East Zone after winning the toss. In the 16th over, East Zone were struggling on 57/5. But Riyan Parag and Kumar Kushagra dramatically turned the game in their favour with a giant 235-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
While Parag scored 131 runs off 102 balls with the help of five fours and 11 sixes, the wicketkeeper-batter Kushagra was out after scoring 98 runs in 87 balls (eight fours and four sixes). Their batting helped East Zone to manage the big first innings total of 337/8 in 50 overs.
In reply, North Zone were all out for 249 runs in 45.3 overs, where Riyan Parag shined once again with a four-wicket haul (4/57). Also, Shahbaz Ahmed bagged three wickets (3/41).
Among the North Zone batters, Mandeep Singh scored 50 runs while there were three more 40s from Abhishek Sharma (44), Himanshu Rana (40) and Shubham Rohilla (41) but no such big scores to challenge their opponents.
