The 36-year-old Australian right-arm pacer Andrew Tye completed his 300 T20 wickets during the BBL 12 Final, where his Perth Scorchers secured a thrilling final-over win against Brisbane Heat to lift their record-stretching fifth BBL trophy. On his 300 T20 wickets milestone, Tye broke the world record and became the fastest to reach 300 T20 wickets.
In the BBL 12 Final, while Heat scored 175/7 (20 overs) after winning the toss, Scorchers dramatically chased down the target in 19.2 overs after losing five wickets.
The third most wicket-taker in the BBL 12, Scorchers’ pacer Andrew Tye (26 wickets in 16 games in BBL 2022/23), took one wicket in the tournament Final as he dismissed James Bazley (5) on the fifth ball of the final over of the first innings.
Though Tye was expensive in the BBL 12 finale, as he had the bowling figures of 4-0-42-1, he completed 300 T20 wickets in 211 matches. With this achievement, Tye became the fastest bowler to complete 300 wickets in the T20 format.
