The India Squads for the test series and the T20I series against Sri Lanka were announced yesterday and there were a lot of news points from both those teams. Some decisions signaled a change in direction in the test format from the old veterans to the youth and that was a necessary change and some injured players were also brought back into the teams as well. And a young player who did well in the Ranji trophy was rewarded but there were also a few misses that the selectors did.
The two squads could not be more different from each other and this shows the depth of Indian cricket and the fact that India has a lot of players who can either play all the three formats of the game or there might be format specific players. So, let’s take a deep analysis about both these teams and the implications of the changes made.
Rohit Sharma is the Man now
After the recent selection committee meeting it has been made absolutely clear that Rohit Sharma is the main man now in Indian cricket as he is now the full time captain of India in all the three formats of the game and after he was announced the test captain it is now clear that all the major decisions will be taken by him with the help of Virat Kohli to guide him along the way. Rohit Sharma is one of the most powerful men in world cricket at the moment and he has earned this moment by working hard everyday and improving his game especially in test cricket and that is the reason why all the fans are okay with him being the leader of the team albeit for scdew years as age is not on his side.

Grooming young future captains
Seeing the fact that Rohit Sharma is 35 years old and he won’t be able to lead India for more than 3 years it is necessary to form the future young leaders who will take the mantle from him in the future and since there is no one in particular it has been made clear that 2-3 players will be made vice captains under Rohit Sharma so that they could learn from the best and lead India in the future. Players like Jasprit Bumrah who has been made the Vice captain in both the T20I and the Test series against Sri Lanka is one such player. Another player is KL Rahul who is a very good player but he needs lessons on captaincy as he has proved to not be a great captain yet and finally there is Rishabh Pant who is the most likely future leader of the Indian team as age is on his side as well.
End of the Road for Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha and Ishant Sharma
This day was about to eventually come and the fans have been ready for this transition and finally yesterday while announcing the test team it happened as it was announced that all these 4 veteran players who had given such amazing services to Indian cricket over the last 10 years were taken out of the team for younger blood like Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Mohammad Siraj and these young players deserve the opportunity to show that they belong in the big stages so it seems highly unlikely that these 4 champion veteran players will return back to the team soon.

Returning players coming back and young players being given a chance
If we look at the T20I squad then it will be seen that there are a few returning players in the reaj as well as the young players have been kept in the squad so that they can be given more chances going forward. Players like Sanju Sanson, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja returned to the team and Avesh Khan, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Venky Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi were retained and given more chances. Similarly in the test team players like Kuldeep and Jaddu were back in the test team as well and young players like Priyank Panchal, Shubman Gill and the young pacer Saurabh Kumar have been given opportunities and it's great to see that.
