Virat Kohli looks most at ease in this format or the game and he is able to score runs even when he is not in form because he knows how to play the 50 overs perfectly. We fans of Indian cricket and his as well want to see him score a hundred soon and more than likely it will come in this format

The Start

Virat Kohli has a good start to his ODI career as he used to get Scores over 50 since his debut but his first century came in his 14th innings at Eden Gardens vs Sri Lanka and from there he was in a rich being of form hitting centuries consistently  Virat Kohli had established himself as a run getter in the 50 over format and he was pushing his case for selection in the 2011 World Cup.

Winning the 2011 World Cup

As a result of his efforts with the bat he was rewarded with a place in the 2011 World Cup squad where he was the junior most in the team. He started with a bang hitting a great Hundred against Bangladesh and from there his confidence grew and he hit another 59 vs West Indies in an important match for India. In the final vs Sri Lanka, India were in trouble and Virat Kohli came to bat and he and Gautam Gambhir had a great partnership and he made 35 valuable runs and India won the World Cup and that was the first global success for Virat.

Becoming the Chase Master

Virat Kohli got the name of Chase Master after a particular Innings in Hobart in 2012 where India had to chase 320+ in 40 overs and a young Virat Kohli played perhaps his greatest ODI innings that day as he mauled the great Sri Lankan bowling attack to all parts and made 133* of the most glorious runs and won the match for India inside 37 overs. Then a few Innings later he made his highest ODI score of 183 vs Pakistan chasing a score of over 330 and he again won this match for India and now people were seeing him as the chase master.

2015-2019- The Golden Period for Virat Kohli

These were the 4 years during which Virat Kohli was batting on such a different level that he raced away from all his contemporaries and got in the greatest debate. He was hitting Centuries for fun and making batting look like it was a piece of cake for him. He won so many matches for India on his own and he got hundreds in every condition be it in India or any overseas nation and in all situations. He raced to 43 ODI hundreds in no time and it was looking like all the records in this format would fall soon .

2019 onwards – Becoming a mortal

Since October 2019, Virat Kohli has yet to score a Hundred and it has been over 1000 days Since he got a hundred in ODI cricket as well. He gets 50s and all but that is considered a failure due to the standards that Virat Kohli has set for himself and we all hope that Virat Kohli returns to his old firm and dominates all his opponents and wins Matches for India on his own. Virat Kohli is a global superstar and when he does well the sport of Cricket Gets a bigger name as a result of it.

It has been 14 amazing years out of which 11 have been great but the last 3 have been challenging and this is what will make him more hungry to score runs for India. Looking forward to seeing him play for 20 years meaning 6 more years and breaking all the records.
