The hawks who were 2-0 down the last two outings with the heat needed some magic to come back, and Trae Young came up to his name. Trae Young, through his clutch, hits a difficult floater at the last minute to give them a lead against heat.
Young finished the game with a game-high 24 points on 6-of-14 shooting with eight assists and four rebounds. He came up big after the Hawks yielded a 21-0 run to the Heat midway through the fourth quarter
Kyle Lowry of the Heat had to be taken off because of a suspected hamstring injury, which wasn’t an issue for Atlanta’s comeback.
The Heat outscored the Hawks 31-16 in the third quarter and had a 21-0 run. The Hawks trailed by as many as 16 points at one stage of the game before they mounted their comeback in the final period led by Young and Bogdan Bogdanovic, who had nine of his 18 points in the last quarter. Young, who struggled mightily with the Heat's pressure defense in Game 1, found his form again in Game 2. The All-Star guard finished with 25 points while shooting 50.0 percent from the field. A comeback performance for Young as he scored just eight points in Game 1.
On Friday, he overcame a slow start (just 2-of-7 from the field in the first half) to finish with 24 points, eight assists, and four rebounds.
"I didn't have any doubt if I shot it I was going to make it," Young said post-game. "But I was really trying to make the right read. I was driving to the middle and waiting to see if somebody helps and I was going, to be honest, find a shooter if they helped. Or if they didn't help, I was going to get to the basket. I was able to get to the basket and get my floater."
Suns had a crucial win
With Booker being hit with an injury, the Suns had to win games with its available squad.
Chris Paul had to take a more offensive approach towards this crucial game against the Pelicans. He scored 28 points and had 14 assists shooting 10-18, he needed someone with the Same offensive approach as him. Ayton was the one who scored 28 points and had 17 rebounds with 3 steals and one block.
It was far from smooth sailing for the Suns, as the Pelicans kept it close throughout, and even poked their head in front at 93-92 with less than six minutes to play. But the Suns proved why they are known as the best clutch team in the NBA, with Paul’s offensive approach and clinical finishes. It was proving to be a too much of pressure on the Pelicans.
While in the Pelicans, Brandon Ingram had 34 points on 11-of-19 shooting in a strong performance for New Orleans, and C.J. McCollum also contributed 30 points of 11-of-23 shooting, but no other Pelican could score more than a dozen.
