There was a time in the NBA where the teams were led by a dynamic duo, Jordan – Pippen, Kobe – Shaq, Stockton – Malone were some of the All-Time great duos to play in the History of the NBA. As we reached the 2010s era. The idea of Superteams popped up which took off a flier when LeBron James started the era of the Big 3 – Joining forces with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade at the Miami Heat where he won 2 championships with the squad.
Here’s a look at the Top 5 trios for the Upcoming Season
5. Chicago Bulls – Lonzo Ball - DeMar DeRozan – Zach Lavine
The squad has had the best free agency for the ages. Chicago Bulls narrowly missed out on Playoffs the past season. Bulls have been on a decline since the departure of Derrick Rose due to injuries and have not been into the postseason for almost half a decade now. With the recent trades of Demar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball, the Chicago Bulls have a Big 4 in the squad with Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic already in the squad.
The Bulls should make an easy mark in the Playoffs in the upcoming season
4. New York Knicks – Derrick Rose – Kemba Walker – Julius Randle
One of the rising teams of the last season. Under the leadership of Derrick Rose, Randle managed to burst onto the All-Star scene and made his 1st ever All-Star appearance. With Kemba Walker coming off from the Boston Celtics, we might see a backcourt duo of Kemba and Rose alongside the promising young core of the Knicks finally getting the MSG loud.
After a disappointing 1st round exit against the Atlanta Hawks, we might see a resurgence in the next season and might get few surprises around in the league.
3. Los Angeles Lakers – LeBron James – Russell Westbrook – Anthony Davis
A disappointing 1st round loss to the Phoenix Suns, made the Lakers front office take decisions that we did not expect to. Russell Westbrook was brought in due to the inefficiency of Dennis Shroder where he was almost non-existent during the Playoffs which eventually cost the squad as Anthony Davis was battling injury.
Now, the Lakers have Carmelo Anthony, Trevor Ariza, Malik Monk, and Kendrick Nunn go alongside the trio.
2. Milwaukee Bucks – Giannis Antetokounmpo – Khris Middleton – Jrue Holiday
Fresh off an NBA Championship, the trio of Giannis, Middleton and Holiday shocked the world when they defeated Pheonix Suns in 6 games to clinch the title after 50 years. The bucks have managed to stick to their core and have the same squad heading onto the next season. With the Eastern Conference well stacked for the upcoming season, will the Bucks manage to repeat the season as champions?
1. Brooklyn Nets – Kevin Durant – Kyrie Irving – James Harden
The Team of Avengers they say. Multiple-time All-Stars, multiple championships under their belt, KD, Kyrie, and the Beard have shown how well they can dominate the rest of the NBA when they are healthy. However, Kyrie and Harden suffered from season-ending injuries the past season during the Playoffs due to which they could not mark their presence. However, KD managed to sneak into the Playoffs and lead the team to a conference Semifinals.
Now with enough recovery time in hand, the Big 3 are running for a championship.
