India has always been one of the biggest markets in WWE and has been for a long time. Indian WWE Superstars have been few and far between and only a select few have been able to make themselves feel special and become champions. India should contribute more WWE superstars. The majority of the audience for WWE outside the USA comes from India.
So, let’s talk about the lack of Indian WWE Superstars and why that is disappointing
Indian WWE Superstars deserve much more
Indian WWE Superstars have only been a thing for the last 17 years and even in these 17 years the number of WWE superstars from India can be counted in 2 hands and the ones who have been successful can be counted in 1. The first big WWE Superstar from India was The Great Khali and he was the first big Indian WWE Superstar as he was booked to look like a monster and he took out The Undertaker on his debut and he had matches against him and he beat the likes of Rey Mysterio, Batista, Kane, Big Show and so many top WWE superstars from the time. He was the first Indian to win the World Heavyweight Championship and he won it in a battle royal. Looking at him younger Indians thought that if The Great Khali can make it then so can we.
A few of them have been in WWE over the past decade (List of all WWE wrestlers from India) like Jinder Mahal who was of Indian origin and he was a jobber for a long period of time but in 2018, WWE made him WWE champion because they wanted to invade the Indian market and they were successful in doing so. Jinder Mahal became the pride of India and looking at him the likes of Veer Mahaan, Sanga and Shanky came to and these days only Jinder Mahal, Veer and Sanga are there in WWE and they are in NXT. This is absolutely disappointing because India deserves more representation in WWE and certainly on the main roster. The main argument that is given is that there is a language problem. The USA crowds speak English and the Indian WWE Superstars are not able to speak English properly. The WWE PC is there and over there classes can be given in English to these guys.
One more argument that is Given is that they are not great wrestlers and therefore cannot make it big in WWE. The solution to this problem is again the WWE PC where they can be trained and given the proper guidance. In 2024, there needs to be proper representation of Indian WWE Superstars like there are for Japan, Australia, UK and all the other nations because the Indian fans will lose their patience and WWE does not want to test the patience of their biggest and most loyal fan base. Indian talent are the best in the world, they just need proper opportunities to shine in WWE and they would not disappoint Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
