Storytelling vs In Ring Wrestling What Is More Important for WWE

Storytelling and In Ring Wrestling are the 2 most important aspects of professional wrestling and these 2 are equally hot right now in WWE and Triple H has used both these tools effectively to make the WWE the number 1 promotion again in the world and the WWE superstars have stepped up their game and it looks like it will only get better. And any feud that has both a great story as well as terrific in ring wrestling, that will be the highlight of the year and the perfect example of that is The Bloodline.

However, out of these 2 skills needed , there is one which has a little more important than the other and that has been proven the most in the last 3 years for all WWE fans and so let’s talk about it below

Storytelling is the most important in professional wrestling

To be fair in ring wrestling is the second most important thing needed to make great TV and any match which is great in the ring will remain for a long time. For example The triple Threat Intercontinental Championship Match that took place at WrestleMania between Gunther vs Sheamus vs Drew McIntyre was a terrific In ring match and it will always be remembered, Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair was one also one of the best in ring matches even though the story was not great and that match will be remembered fondly.

However, the matches where the storytelling is top notch and there are moments that the fans will remember for the rest of time are more special. The best example is The Bloodline where for 3 years the Storytelling has been the best it has ever been in WWE and the results are there to see as the TV ratings are the highest it has ever been as more than 3 million viewers have been watching The Bloodline stuff and even people who are not wrestling fans watch the segments because the storytelling is amazing. This does not happen where there is only good in ring wrestling with no storytelling.

The most ideal scenario is when these two combine meaning a feud which has a great story and then they go on to have the best matches are the ones which become the best matches in history. For example The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels which happened between WrestleMania 25 and 26 and in that feud the storytelling was top tier and the in ring Matches they had are still remembered as some of the best WWE Matches of all after 15 years. Or The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin had a trilogy of WrestleMania Matches which are still loved by all the fans even after 25 years and 20 years from now The Bloodline story will be fondly remembered. This is the power of great storytelling mixed with great in-ring wrestling.
