Ranking the 4 Biggest PPVs of the year for WWE by importance

WWE has almost a dozen PPVs throughout the year meaning there is 1 PPV show a month and all the shows have been top tier from WWE but there are 4 events that are the biggest of the year and they have been going on for more than 35 years and one will complete 40 years in 2024. All the wrestling fans know about all these 4 events because they have watched it since they were children and a lot of good memories are associated with all these events.

However, these 4 are not of Equal importance so let’s Rank the 4 PPVs by importance.

1) WrestleMania

There is no doubt that WrestleMania is the biggest WWE event of the year and the biggest PPV of the year. It is also the biggest and most important wrestling show of the year. And WrestleMania will complete 40 years next year when WrestleMania 40 happens in Philadelphia next year. WrestleMania has become a pop culture phenomenon just like the Super Bowl meaning the fans who do not watch wrestling on a regular basis also watch WrestleMania because when they were younger they had fond memories. WrestleMania since the past few years has been 2 nights and there are more Matches that are there and more revenue Is there for WWE from tickets as well as Sponsorships. This year a total of 161,000 fans attended WrestleMania across 2 nights and next year WWE will try to exceed this limit.

2) SummerSlam

There is always a confusion as to which is the second biggest WWE PPV of the year because there are 2 options for this spot as both Royal Rumble and SummerSlam can lay claim to being the second biggest WWE PPV of the year but after looking deeper it has to be SummerSlam because it is the biggest event of the summer and going by the cards it is clear that SummerSlam is the second biggest WWE PPV of the year. Since the past few years WWE have been holding SummerSlam in 50,000 capacity Stadiums and they have got close to 50,000 fans every year and this year will be the same. There will be a total of more than 10 matches with the biggest WWE superstars and feuds that culminate at this event.

3) Royal Rumble

Following close at number 3 is the Royal Rumble and it just missed out on the number 2 spot because this event is directly linked with WrestleMania and not a stand alone event like SummerSlam. This PPV has the favorite match of every wrestling fan in It which is the Royal Rumble Match but because of that not a lot of other big matches are able to take place. Royal Rumble has also being held in Stadiums since the past few years and more than 40,000 fans attend these shows and WWE gets a lot of revenue from this event as well. A total of 6-7 Matches take place at this show and this show is most famous for the shocks and surprises that WWE throws at its fans.

4) Survivor Series

This event is the definitive number 4 on this list because this event is not as important as the rest and it is all WWE’s fault that they have reduced this event to a joke for the past decade with the needless brand wars and that too just after the Draft has happened. Last year was a big step up as Survivor Series WarGames happened and more than 18,000 fans attended the event and WWE pit on a great show but this year WWE has a slew of options as they can do a 3 brand Survivor Series this year featuring Raw, SmackDown and NXT because it would have been 6+ months since the draft and the wrestlers would have brand loyalties or WWE could go with the WarGames format. To make Survivor Series on the same level as the other 3 , WWE has to hold this event In a Stadium of 50,000+ fans and if the show sells out then it can compete for the number 3 spot.
