The NXT North American Championship is the latest championship that has been introduced by NXT and it has been 5+ years since that title has been introduced and there have been some incredible champions who have held this title and now there is a champion who has become the longest reigning NXT North American Champion of all time and his reign looks like it will not stop anytime soon.
The NXT North American Championship is like the United States Championship or the Intercontinental Championship for NXT and this is the Workhorse Championship in NXT and everyone has to go through this Championship to go to the next ladder which is the NXT Championship.
So, let’s look at the Top 5 Longest reigning NXT North American Champions of all time:
1) Wes Lee (227 Days and counting)
Wes Lee has become the longest reigning NXT North American Champion of all time and quite frankly he is the best ever North American Champion of all time as well in the short history of this championship. Wes Lee has made this championship that every wrestler in NXT wants because he defends the title with honor and prestige and Shawn Michaels has all the faith in the world in this young man and it is looking like he will continue being the champion long into the future. Wes Lee is also one of the best Wrestlers in NXT.

2) Velveteen Dream (209 Days)
It is very sad how fast the career of Velveteen Dream has fallen because he was supposed to be the next big thing in WWE and due to his actions off the ring WWE were not able to continue having him on the roster. However the wrestler was the longest reigning NXT North American Champion before Wes Lee and he was the champion from February to September of 2019 and he was the best wrestler in NXT and he made this title so important. He used to have bangers with everybody and he was so young that he would have been at least United States Champion now.

3) Keith Lee (181 Days)
Keith Lee is at the number 3 spot with a reign that lasted for 181 days and Keith Lee was a wrestler who was loved by everyone and therefore he was both the NXT Champion as well as the NXT North American Champion at the same time. He was such a good wrestler for a person of his size and he was very good in promos as well. Keith Lee was the NXT North American Champion from January to July 2022 and during his reign he had incredible matches for the championship and he made the title as important as the NXT Championship.
4) Carmelo Hayes (171 Days)
At number 4 is the current NXT Champion who was the best NXT North American Champion before Wes Lee won the title and he was getting to the stage of becoming HIM and he was a dominant NXT North American Champion who would beat anyone at any time and this was the first Reign that he had with the title and it was so good that the NXT brand had him become the champion again. This first reign was from October 2021 to April 2022.

5) Johnny Gargano (163 Days)
Johnny Gargano is at the number 5 spot just by being 2 days ahead from the next champion. Johnny Gargano has done everything there is to do in NXT and he became the first triple crown champion in NXT. NXT was Johnny Gargano and he won the NXT North American Championship between December 2020 and May 2021. Johnny Gargano elevated the NXT North American Championship because he was one of the top stars in NXT and he had barn burners with the upcoming NXT superstars and he was an incredible champion.
