A lot of things about WWE are discussed on a daily basis by fans and everyone else but the one thing that does not get much of the spotlight is that how does a WWE contract exactly work and for how many years does it go on for ? So ,we are here to tell you all about it. It is quite fascinating as to see that they lock a wrestler for five long years and then renew their contracts and some are there for three years like Matt Riddle
The nature of WWE contacts have changed over the Decades and the pay of the wrestlers are going up as we speak because of all the billion dollar television contracts they have in place with NBC and FOX and the Saudi Arabia deal as well so WWE has more leeway to pay their wrestlers. So , let’s look at how exactly a WWE contract works.
Usually long term contracts
WWE contracts are usually long term, say 5 years for most superstars and for some superstars it is Three years but the WWE controls the contract and they can release you of that contract as and when they feel like and the wrestler cannot himself get out of that contact. Not only are the wrestlers told how much money they will make over the course of the year but the details such as payment per PPV match, merch sales and live events as well. One more important thing in the WWE contract is that when one signs for WWE z they are given a new name as WWE cannot use the name they had before, for example Jon Moxley became Dean Ambrose in WWE and when he left WWE a few years ago he again started using the term Jon Moxley. They give you a new finisher, entrance music which are exclusive to WWE. A different example is AJ Styles who owns the name and the moves he uses so if he leaves WWE he can use all those but his entrance music which is owned by WWE.

Details of the contact
We talked about the broad things in a WWE contract but we should also talk about the minor details that are present in a WWE superstar contract. In the contract every superstar will have the number of dates they will be competing in and the number of matches they will have throughout the year. For example Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair are the ones who will have the most number of dates per year and Jobbers like Zack Ryder and the others do not have so many dates and are sitting at home for most of the time.
Release details
There are few WWE superstars who are lifera in WWE meaning they wrestle no where else other than WWE but there are some WWE superstars who are released by WWE over a period of time and even when they are released they have a 90 day no compete clause wherein they can talk to any other promotions but they cannot compete anywhere else. These wrestlers can say anything on social media about WWE and promote their own self but they have to wait 90 days to be eligible to wrestle someplace else.
