Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley is a match that not only the fans of professional wrestling wanted for 20 years but MMA fans also really wanted to see this match on any ring, be it a WWE ring or an octagon. For 20 years both of these super athletes were doing their respective things but as fate would have it, their paths finally crossed in 2022 and that too also because of an unfortunate event in the life of Roman Reigns.

Both Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley are two of the most beautiful and dominant WWE superstars of the last 20 years and both of them individually destroyed most of the WWE roster that has been present. So, let’s look at the past of both of these incredible athletes and see how we came to this point to finally having their one on one WWE championship match at this year’s Royal Rumble.
Debut in 2002
Both Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley debuted in the WWE in early 2002 and both of these once in a generation superstars stood out from the rest based on their physical beings and the fact that they were so athletic based on their size and the things they were able to do. Brock Lesnar won everything that year, he first won the King of the ring then at SummerSlam in his first WWE championship match, he beat the Legendary Rock and on the other end Bobby Lashley won the United States Championship and the ECW championship and even main evented WrestleMania in a match where he was representing Donald Trump.

MMA Careers
Both Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar left WWE only a couple of years after they joined the company as they wanted to explore other options in their respective careers. Brock Lesnar took the UFC route and Bobby Lashley went to Impact wrestling first. Brock Lesnar became an instant superstar in the UFC as he won the Heavyweight title in only his 3rd MMA fight and he was the toast of the MMA fans. On the other end Bobby Lashley became the Impact World champion and dominated that Roster and from there he moved to MMA as well with Bellator and there also he was one of the best fighters in that company. Both of them have not crossed paths yet but then both were at the top of their respective MMA companies. The fans always used to dream about if either one of them came In the other MMA company then we can have this dream match finally but it was not to be.

Returning to WWE
After a very successful UFC run , Brock Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012 and was immediately established as one of the top stars of the company. He was leaner and more of a better wrestler than before and he was starting hot with John Cena and from there on he went on to have tremendous success in his current run in WWE. He beat the Undertaker at WrestleMania, won the WWE championship from John Cena , had the most dominant title reign and from there on became the biggest box office draw for WWE. Bobby Lashley too returned to WWE in 2018 but his fortunes were not as good as Brock as he was lingering in various storylines that had no business being near him considering the athlete he was. Then came 2020 and MVP joined him and from there on his career took an upward path as he first won the United States Championship and then a few months later , he won the WWE championship and had a great run with the gold.

Finally facing off in the Royal Rumble
At the Day 1 PPV Brock Lesnar was supposed to have a match with Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship but on the day of the PPV,Roman tested positive for Covid and Brock was added to the WWE championship match and he won but the interaction between him and Bobby Lashley was a treat for fans and finally after 20 years , all WWE and MMA fans finally got what they wanted, a match between these two forces of nature for the WWE championship and there’s no doubt that both of them will give the fans a match that will be remembered forever and will be worth the wait.
