The Royal Rumble is approaching and it’s this Sunday morning in Indian time and this is everyone’s favourite PPV of the entire year and not just because there are 30 men and 30 women who will enter one match to earn a shot at immortality and become an instant superstar like it happened with the case of Bianca Belair last year. Getting a meal ticket to the main event of WrestleMania is something that everyone wants.
Other than all those great things, the thing the fans are most excited about are the surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble match and this is an integral reason why it’s so many people’s favorite match of the whole year. There have been many wonderful and astonishing surprises in the history of the Royal Rumble so to narrow it down to Five is extremely hard but also a lot of fun. 1. Edge (2020):
No surprise in the history of the Royal Rumble it is as emotional, jaw dropping and as awesome as this one from Edge in 2020. He had to retire from professional wrestling in 2011 because of a double fusion neck injury and thus he was added in the Hall of Fame in 2012 realising that there is no chance he comes back so to hear “You think You Know me” was a moment no wrestling fan will ever forget. The sheer emotion on his face and the feeling that the thing he once lost was back in his life and he was ready to show the world that Edge was back. He was in the match for almost 30 minutes and was even in the Top 3. This is why the Royal Rumble is the favorite PPV of the Wrestling calendar.
2. John Cena (2008):
This would have been number 1 on this list had the Edge return not happened simply because the circumstances regarding this incredible return are extraordinary. Just 3 months before the Rumble, Cena injured himself his pectoral muscle and was supposed to be out minimum 6 months meaning chances of returning at the Rumble was Zero but once his music hit everyone in MSG and the world lost their collective minds and it was a moment for the ages and John Cena went on to win that Royal Rumble match in 2008.
3. AJ Styles (2016):
This is one moment which was considered impossible to happen in WWE ever as the best wrestler outside of WWE for so many years was coming to WWE was unthinkable. The fans were hoping for it but they were not too hopeful so when in 2016, it was time for entrant number 3 to come out , a music started playing and when the word Phenomenal appeared on the screen the fans in that arena and everyone watching absolutely lost it and were giddy with happiness. To see AJ Styles in a WWE ring was the stuff dreams are made of and this is a prime example of using the Royal Rumble to debut a huge superstar. It was a very special moment.

4. Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Lita, Bella Twins and Beth Phoenix (2018):
2018 was the year when the WWE had its first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match and there was a lot of excitement surrounding the match among the WWE universe and there was a scope for many surprises. WWE went all out and first was Lita who got a huge pop and then Molly Holly returned to WWE after so many years and the fans loved it ,Nia Jax was dominating the Royal Rumble and then came the OG strong female Beth Phoenix and she rocked in that match and then at number 30 the biggest legend Trish Stratus returned and she looked like she was wrestling all this time. It was a great match with all generations of Women who helped reach this point got to showcase themselves.
5. Victoria and Christian (2021):
The only Royal Rumble held without fans was not short of major surprise entrants and both in the men’s and women’s matches. At number 10, Victoria made her return after years of speculation and she looked in perfect shape and the fans watching At home were extremely excited to see her and showcase her excellent in ring skills to the new set of viewers. And in the men’s match , it was the time of entrant number 24 and there was Christian who returned to a wrestling ring after 7 years and everyone was extremely emotional seeing him return and his reunion with his best friend Edge in the Royal Rumble was teary for everyone watching.
The Royal Rumble this year is very exciting because it is the first time it is being held in an NFL Stadium with over 60000 fans in attendance so WE'll go all out for surprises so there might be more entries in this list going ahead.
