As the Royal Rumble PPV is coming up this weekend and because it is the favorite PPV of the year for all wrestling fans so we thought it would be prudent to do a list of our Top 5 Best Royal Rumble matches from over the years and we are aware that not everyone will agree with our list but that is the fun of it all, making your own lists. There have been so many Rumble matches over the last 35 years and especially since 2018 when there are Two Rumble matches every year.
There have been more than 40 Royal Rumble matches over the course of history and there have been many great Royal Rumble matches that is is very difficult to choose the Top 5 among them all. So, let’s look at our Top 5 Best Royal Rumble matches in WWE History
1. 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble -
This Rumble match is perhaps the most significant after the inaugural one that was held in 1988 because this is where the women of WWE were getting their due diligence and a true sense of equality and spotlight. Not only that , this Royal Rumble match was full of very cool moments and surprise returns and the fans loved every second of it. Fittingly Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks were the first two entrants in this match and early on Lita returned to a huge pop from the fans in Philadelphia and then Molly Holly returned and she was greeted very loudly as well and the current stars like Natalya got to shine in this match and Naomi did a Kofi Kingston spot in the women’s Royal Rumble match. The Bella Twins also returned and the return of Beth Phoenix generated a massive reaction from the fans and deservedly the number 30 spot went to the GOAT Trish Stratus. The winner of this Royal Rumble match was spot on as well with Asuka winning it all. Overall a historic step for women and a very good Rumble match.
2. 2007 Royal Rumble match -
If there was an award for the most star studded Royal Rumble match ever then it can go to this one in 2007 where the biggest stars of that time took part in this Rumble match. The likes of Edge, RVD, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy,Ric Flair etc but the Two biggest ones of them all are saved for the end as Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were the last two in the Royal Rumble match and before that RVD stood out in this match showing his high flying skills and the crowd absolutely loved this match and the Final two was the stuff of dreams as Two of the biggest legends were going at it to win this match and finally it was The Undertaker who won this all time great Rumble match.

3. 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble match -
This was the true definition of a Royal Rumble match as it featured the new stars who were sure to go up the ladder following this match, legends from the 2002 era who were fighting to prove that they are still relevant, a returning Rey Mysterio and the next generation of stars from NXT were also in it. Wrestlers like Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Elias were showing that they have got it and the legends like Randy Orton, John Cena and Rey Mysterio were proving that experience is the most important and they were showing out and in between NXT stars like Andrade Almas and Adam Cole got more eyes on them and the final 6 was a thing of beauty and the winner Shinsuke Nakamura was the perfect choice to win that Year.
4. 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match -
For some of the fans until entry number 16, it would have looked like the most boring Royal Rumble match ever but storytelling is an art and the fans have to be patient for the pay off. This match also holds a special place in the heart of many fans because of the return of someone who all thought would never wrestle again in Edge and Brock Lesnar wad outstanding in this match telling a beautiful story eliminating everyone and then came Drew McIntyre and he gave the best Claymore kick to Brock Lesnar to eliminate him and drew became a star and eventually won the Royal Rumble match to send the fans home happy.
5. 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble match-
Considering the fact that this Royal Rumble match was held without fans and then to deliver such an entertaining match is simply sensational and so amazing. Bayley as the first entrant was perfect as she was bragging and then we got the return of Naomi which was awesome, Then at number 3 came Bianca Belair who was the star of this match no doubt and she grew in the match as well and Billie Kay was so entertaining in this match giving the comedic humour in this match. At number 10 came out Victoria who showed that she has still got it and NXT stars like Dakota Kai, Toni Storm, Rhea Ripley etc shined in thus match. The final Two were Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair which was great and in the end Bianca Belair won the Rumble match and made history. It was an outstanding Rumble match.
