Stuart Broad became 6th bowler to complete 550 Test wickets

The 36-year-old English right-arm pacer Stuart Broad became the third pacer and the sixth bowler to claim 550 Test wickets. However, he is the slowest bowler among all of them to complete 550 Test wickets.

England are currently busy in the Birmingham Test against the visitors India which is the last game of the five-match Test series, a competition under the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship.


Stuart Broad dismissed Mohammed Shami to complete 550 Test wickets

In the late moment of the first innings of this Birmingham Test, Broad completed his 550 Test wickets after dismissing Mohammed Shami with a well-directed short ball. Shami’s shot found well-placed Jack Leach at the third man as the Indian tail-ender was caught out for 16 runs.

After taking his only wicket in that innings, Broad completed his 550 Test wickets. Here are some key stats of his 550 wickets in his Test career.

  • Broad became the sixth bowler to complete 550 wickets in their Test career.

But just after completing 550 Test wickets, Broad was thrashed by the new Indian Test captain Jasprit Bumrah, who smashed him the record-breaking 35 runs in an over (Bumrah scored 29 runs and six runs were extras).
