We are covering this because this is really exciting news for all motorsport fans in India as we all have been wanting Formula 1 or MotoGP here in India and after almost 8 years we have MotoGP here and this raises the question that could Formula 1 follow suit. I raise this question because MotoGP and Formula 1 come under the same sports category and if Moto GP can happen in India then surely Formula 1 can too. I don’t personally follow Moto GP but I will surely watch this race at the Buddha International Circuit when it happens next year.
Before we get into why I think this could mean the return of Formula 1, I have to say Kudos to all parties involved because India is one of the biggest markets in the world and the start of the Moto GP will bring new fans into the sport which is a good thing. So, let's see, will the return of Formula 1 happen because of this?
Yes, There is a possibility
I think that absolutely Formula 1 could come back to India as they know they will get one of the biggest audiences ever in the year and the promotion they will get from here will be mind-blowing. Moto GP will experience what it feels like to be here and hopefully after they have an incredibly successful race they will tell the drivers of Formula 1 and the management that India is one of the best places to race. And after watching Drive To Survive there are millions of new fans like me of Formula 1 who would love to go to the Buddha International Circuit to see the Top 20 drivers battle it out.
I also think the change In government from the last time they were here will add to the thinking that there will be fewer problems as the current government gives priority to all sports and the 7 year deal with Moto GP is proof of that. They are not merely entertainment now and the taxes will most likely be waived off so hopefully in the next 2 years Formula 1 will make it’s return to India at the Buddha International Circuit.
And if the races are successful then we can build separate circuits for the MotoGP and Formula 1 because there are different requirements that are needed for both the different types of races. And hopefully there will be no accidents because accidents also deter drivers and promotions from going to a country. I am really looking forward to the Bharat Grand Prix next year at the Buddha International Circuit and I would also like to know your thoughts about this.
