On day 3 at the Asian Games 2023 (September 26) in Hangzhou (China), India won the historic gold medal in the equestrian team dressage event. It was India’s first Asiad gold medal in the equestrian team dressage event.
Asian Games 2022: Team Dressage (Equestrian) – India won the gold medal
Anush Agarwalla (horse name Etro), Hriday Chheda (horse name Chemxpro Emerald), Divyakriti Singh (horse name Adrenalin Firfod), and Sudipti Hajela (horse name Chinski), all four Indians performed impressively to make history for India in the equestrian team dressage event.
While Anush scored 71.088 and Hriday scored 69.941, Divyakriti and Sudipti scored 68.176 and 66.706, respectively. As the best three scores can be picked, India scored 209.205, excluding Sudipti’s score.
China won the silver medal with a total score of 204.882, while the bronze medallist Hong Kong finished very close to China with 204.852.
In the individual list, Anush and Hriday finished in the second and third positions, respectively, while Divyakriti was in the joint eighth place, and Sudipti managed the 16th spot. All four Indians will participate in the individual equestrian dressage event final on Wednesday (September 27).
Asian Games: Indian Equestrian Record
Although India previously won three gold medals, three silver medals, and six bronze medals in the Asiad equestrian events, it was the country’s first gold medal in the equestrian team dressage event. In the 1986 edition, the Indian equestrian team dressage won the bronze medal, and the 19th Asian Games experienced the second equestrian team dressage medal for India.
Also after the 1982 team eventing gold medal, the latest crown was India's second team gold medal in the Asiad equestrian history.
