Germany’s Berlin is hosting the World Archery Championships 2023. In the Final of the women’s team compound on Friday (4 August), India faced Mexico.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Parneet Kaur and Aditi Gopichand Swami from India challenged Dafne Quintero, Ana Sofía Hernandez Jeon and Andrea Becerra from Mexico. India beat Mexico in the women’s team compound Final by 235-229.
Earlier, on Wednesday (2 August), the Indian women’s compound team beat Colombia in the semi-final (220-216) after winning against Turkey (230-228) and Chinese Taipei (228-226) in the 1/8 final and quarterfinal respectively.
Among the Indian women’s compound team members, Jyothi Surekha Vennam was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2017.
Before the World Archery Championships 2023, India won nine silvers and two bronze medals in the World Archery Championships history.
