India always has a place for Football in their hearts. There are many players who have made this game very special for the fans. In the history of Indian football, there is a very big exception in this scenario. There are a team manager and coach, which we loved as we loved the game. That is none other than Syed Abdul Rahim.
Syed Abdul Rahim was the manager of the Indian Football from 1950-1963. Considered as the architect of the Indian football, Syed Abdul Rahim has trained the Indian national football team towards a number of achievements. It was under the training of Abdul Rahim, Indian football team qualified into the semi-finals of 1956 Melbourne Olympics football. India became the first Asian team to reach this milestone.
Syed Abdul Rahim was born on 17th August 1909 at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. He had his education from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and started playing for various local and national teams. His senior team career was mainly practicing the trams Qamar club and HSV Hoek. He has also managed the Hyderabad city police team from 1943 to 1950. Also under the training of Abdul Rahim, the Indian Football team won the Asian games gold in football for the years 1951 and 1962.
The last successful event for the Indian team under Abdul Rahim is the 1962 Asian games held in Jakarta, where India beat South Korea winning the gold medal in front of 10000 spectators. Syed Abdul Rahim died in 1963 after he was diagnosed with cancer.
