Last season’s ISL finalists Bengaluru FC wish to go even better in the upcoming campaign which will begin in only a week's time. They will play the tournament curtain-raiser none other than their Southern rivals Kerala Blasters. The last meeting in the league back in March generated a huge controversy when the Blasters abandoned the game midway in protest of a referee decision. Opening the season with the same fixture will carry the drama from the previous encounter but the Blues will be hoping for victory regardless. Though the match will take place in Kochi.
The schedule will not be easier from here for Simon Grayson’s men as they have to battle Mohun Bagan Super Giant. It is a repeat of the final played in the previous season in Goa which Bengaluru lost on penalties after the score was tied 2-2. The match being in Kolkata poses a different challenge as they seek revenge. The first home game is in October against the other side of the city East Bengal FC. Bengaluru will play the second consecutive league game at Kanteeerava Stadium with FC Goa visiting them. The last month of the year will also bring severe ties against Shield winners Mumbai City at home and Chennaiyin FC away successively.
