The 21-year-old Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal created history on Thursday (11 May) night by breaking the record for the fastest IPL fifty. He recorded a dominating 13-ball half-century to secure a big win against the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
After KKR were sent to bat first at Eden Gardens, the hosts were restricted to 149/8 in 20 overs, majorly thanks to the new record-holder of most IPL wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal’s 4-fer (4/25).
Fastest IPL half-century: Yashasvi Jaiswal broke the joint record of KL Rahul and Pat Cummins
In reply, though Jos Buttler was run out for a duck in the second over of the innings, his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal was in unstoppable mood with the bat. The young left-handed opening batter completed his half-century in just 13 balls to record the fastest half-century in IPL history.
During that historical fifty, Jaiswal broke the joint record of KL Rahul and Pat Cummins. Previously, Kings XI Punjab cricketer Rahul and Kolkata Knight Riders star Cummins both recorded 14-ball half-centuries each.
