Last week was the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and this week the Formula 1 drivers came into Canada to have another impressive showing for the people and to strengthen their places in the World Championship standings. It was a tricky race but in the end Max Verstappen won the race with Carlos Sainz of Ferrari coming in 2nd and Lewis Hamilton came in at 3rd to complete the podium. It was yet another impressive showing for Max Verstappen who strengthened his lead at the top of the drivers Standings.
Before the race on Sunday there was the Qualifying on Saturday where some surprises were in store and this made for a fun race on Sunday. So, let’s talk about the Qualifying and the race results in detail below.
Qualifying
The qualifying results were a surprise to a lot of people because although Max Verstappen took pole position in the race on Sunday, it was Fernando Alonso who claimed the P2 position and shocked everyone and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari was in P3. Charles Leclerc who is 3rd in the drivers Standings was in P19 and so the race was set up to be a great race with 20 drivers giving it their all to be at the podium.
The Race
Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso were at the top of the grid with Sainz just behind and Alonso wanted to take the lead in the first corner of the race but Max Verstappen did not let that happen as he raced ahead at the start. Mick Schumacher was starting at a careee best P6 but was pushed to P8 by Esteban Ocon and George Russell. At lap 3 Carlos Sainz overtook Alonso and it was him vs Max Verstappen for the first position of the race from that point. Sergio Perez had a horrible time in Canada as he had to retire early after Lap 8 and that was bad for RedBull. Max Verstappen took a put stop at the Virtual safety car and switched to hard and by Lap 15 he was again P2 overtaking Fernando Alonso. At Lap 21, Charles Leclerc was upto P7 which was a feet impressive showing thus far from the Ferrari driver. In the end it was Max Verstappen who kept his cool won yet another race and he is now 46 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez in the drivers championship and unless Max has a horrible couple of races, he looks good for na k to back.
