The last Formula 1 race of the season is in the books and we are here to talk about the results and everything that happened in the race. It was the last race in the legendary career of the 4 time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel as he was bidding farewell to the sport he loved so much and all the F1 fans loved him more and we all will miss him.
The race was emotional for all the drivers and the fans and yet there was a lot of intrigue in this race as the second best driver of the year was set to be decided and thus were seated one last time this year as fans in the longest season ever to watch the best 20 drivers go at it and from next year we will not see a few drivers starting. So, let’s take a look at the results.
Race Results
The race begins and Max Verstappen takes the lead in the race and Sergio Perez is behind him in P2. Lap 5 and Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are out in front by some distance and Max is helping his teammate and on the other side Lewis Hamilton was asked to give the place back to Sainz. Lap 6 and Lewis Hamilton overtakes Carlos Sainz. Lap 9 and Max Verstappen is 2.3 seconds ahead and Vettel is fighting well in his last race. Lap 15 and the first pit stops of the race happen and all the drivers go for hard tyres. Lap 21 and Max Verstappen pits and George Russell gets a 5 second penalty.
Lap 24 and Fernando Alonso overtakes Yuki Tsunoda and Valteri Bottas . Lap 28 and Fernando Alonso retires from the race and his time at Alpine comes to an end. Lap 33 and Charles Leclerc is getting close to Sergio Perez and it will be fun. Lap 38 and Lewis Hamilton is catching up to George Russell and Charles Leclerc will try to have a one stop race. Lap 42 and Max Verstappen is cruising to his 15th win of the season. Lap 46 and Sergio Perez gets ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc is ahead by 9 seconds. Lap 52 and Sergio Perez is closing the gap but it is not enough. Lap 56 and Lewis Hamilton is out of the race. Lap 58 and Max Verstappen wins the Grand Prix and Charles Leclerc finishes second to be P2.
