Manchester City announced that Kevin De Bruyne has penned a new contract with Citizens until 2025. The contract means that the midfield starlet will be staying at the Etihad till the age of 34. The Midfielder will reportedly earn £300,000 per week plus bonuses as per the new contract.
The announcement came as no surprise as the Belgian's previous contract was supposed to end in 2023. De Bruyne has been on top of his game for more than 4 seasons under Pep Guardiola. The Midfielder has become one of the best in the world at Manchester City having won 7 major trophies. De Bruyne has scored 65 goals and assisted a mammoth 105 goals in just 255 games for the blues.
“I could not be happier,” De Bruyne said in an official statement
“Since joining City in 2015, I have felt at home. I love the fans, my family are settled here in Manchester and my own game has developed really well.
“This football club is geared for success. It offers me everything I need to maximise my performance, so signing this contract was a straightforward decision. I am playing the best football of my career and I honestly feel there is more to come.
“Pep and I see football in the same way. Having that relationship with a manager is so important to me because our objectives are totally aligned and we want the same things.
“My focus now is on ensuring we have a successful end to the current campaign. Our results and performances so far have been excellent, but we need to make sure we end the season with the silverware we deserve.”
The one thing De Bruyne left for De Bruyne to do is lead Manchester City to their maiden Champions League triumph. With the Premier League title almost secured the Citizens will be focused on winning the Champions League. City are still in the running to win the Quadruple this season. Kevin De Bruyne will be the main man to help City win it this season and for at least 4 seasons more.
