Is the Move to Al Nassr a good move for Cristiano Ronaldo?

2022 started as the year where the debate between Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi was still very much on but by the time the year ended there was only 1 winner after Lionel Messi won the World Cup and fulfilled his lifelong dream for Argentina. And the end of 2022 for Cristiano Ronaldo was not what he would have expected at the start of the year as it was announced that he would make a move to Saudi Arabia club Al Nassr and it will be 2 and a half years.

His salary during his time will be enormous as he will he getting $200 million per year from the Saudi Arabia club and this will be the highest salary in football history and this money includes $90 million for his playing and the extra money will be for his commerce ventures and he will also be the brand ambassador for Saudi Arabia in their bid to get the 2030 World Cup. So, let’s see the good and not so good aspects of this deal and then let’s decide whether this was a good move or not.

The Money is good so that is always nice

One of the good aspects of this deal is the money that Cristiano Ronaldo will receive during his term at the club and after all the years of service he has given hundreds of millions of football fans, he deserves to have all this money and no one can grudge him for it because he has been the second best Player in the world for 16 years and the goals and trophies he has won are extraordinary. And $200 million bucks is a fair price for him.

This will be huge for Asian Football

One of the best things that will happen because of this deal is that Asian Football will come more into the spotlight and more fans will watch the Matches that he plays in and it will give hope to all the other nations in Asia that they can also sign more great players for their teams. This can also help India in the long run. So, Asian Football will be the big victor in this deal.

This is not good for his legacy

As good as it will be for Asian Football and the money that he will get ,the fact is that this is not what Cristiano Ronaldo would have wanted because playing in Europe is the best option for a player like him and since no European team was willing to take him in their team so he had to accept this deal and go to Saudi Arabia. This will forever hurt his legacy and fans will keep telling him that what a fall from grace it was. And deep down he must be angry that Lionel Messi has gone so ahead of him.

His best days are behind him

This is the biggest proof that we needed that the best is behind the all time great and now he will no longer play top level football and Messi van go on to play UEFA Champions League for years and maybe break his record for most UEFA Champions League Goals. He is 37 and he should retire and not play in Saudi Arabia for long. It is sad to see him like this and I hope he can do well in Saudi Arabia but his achievements will always be looked down on.
