FC Barcelona have finally concluded the signing of star forward Ferran Torres. The young Spaniard has joined the Catalan giants on a five-year deal until 2027. Barcelona will have to shell out a whopping 46.3 million pounds for the players with another 8.4 million in add-ons. Torres’ release clause has been set to 1 billion euros. Torres has also been officially unveiled as a Barca player earlier this month at the Camp Nou. Torres' acquisition would make Barcelona's starting XI rather frightening when fully fit.
Barcelona have been associated with a number of players, including Edinson Cavani, Raheem Sterling, Karim Adeyemi, who have all been linked with the club. Ferran Torres, on the other hand, was their favored option, with the hope that he can help them improve their fortunes in a La Liga season when their results have been mainly unexpected. He has 16 goals in 43 appearances for Manchester City, which is outstanding for a player who only plays occasionally.
However, where will he play on Xavi’s side? What would be the best lineup with Torres? Let’s find out.
German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen would start in goal, with Dani Alves, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique, and Jordi Alba expected to form the back four. After a few years away, Alves was recently brought back to the club to add some much-needed expertise to the group. He may be 38 years old, but he was brought back for a reason, and he might unseat Sergino Dest as the team's right-back. Dest has been linked with a move away from Barcelona, with Chelsea interested in landing him.
Xavi has sound choices in the midfield, with Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Nico, Sergio Busquets, Pedri, and Riqui Puig all available. When all three players are fit, De Jong, Busquets, and Pedri are the top choices. Meanwhile, Gavi, who is as amazing, fills Pedri's shoes in midfield. With the best of them, the feisty, glittery teenage star can fight.
Torres will very certainly play as a winger or a striker in the attack. Because there is where Barca's quality is sorely missing. He's also had a good season with Man City. If completely healthy, Ansu Fati will start ahead of Memphis Depay on the left, while Ousmane Dembele will start on the right, with Xavi admitting to being a fan of the Frenchman.
Barcelona’s best lineup with Ferran Torres (4-3-3):
Goalkeeper: Marc-Andre ter Stegen
Defenders: Dani Alves, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba
Midfielders: Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Pedri
Forwards: Dembele, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati
