It has been an incredible season for Brighton & Hove Albion as they changed from a good side to a great one under Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian guided the club to play continental football for the first time in history. The Seagulls finished sixth on the Premier League table last month to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League. Brighton were the most entertaining side in the league offering jaw-dropping football on the pitch which even neutrals fell for.
The 2023/24 season will bring a totally different challenge for the club to manage also some of their star players are either leaving or destined to move in the summer window. Balancing the Europa League and replicating the same impact of last season is the main task for De Zerbi’s men. They will open the new season in the Premier League with a battle against promoted side Luton Town who have their story to tell. The game is at AMEX on 12 August 2023. Interestingly, the Seagulls also end the campaign at home against Manchester United in May next year.
The other fixture with the Red Devils is on September 16, 2023, a week after Brighton face Newcastle in another home fixture. Aston Villa on the last day of the month, then Liverpool and Manchester City to face in the first two weeks of October is a schedule the Seagulls have to endure. The first A23 derby with rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in December after playing last season’s runners-up Arsenal away as well. Similarly, the reverse derby also falls in February next year before facing another North London team Tottenham Hotspurs. Brighton will also have a tough ending to the season with five of the top seven from last campaign and Chelsea to face in the final 10 matches.
