Bayern Munich will start their title defence for the 12th Bundesliga season in a row after almost surrendering their title dominance last time. An inconsistent season saw them sack Julian Nagelsmann to appoint Thomas Tuchel for the managerial role. Ultimately, they pipped arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund to the top of the league table on the final day. With several notable board members stepping down and Bayern looking for transformative signings in the market, the 2023/24 campaign will be an interesting one to watch.
The Bavarian will play the curtain-raising fixture of the league once again, away at Werder Bremen on 18th August 2023. After facing Augsburg a week later in their first home game of the season, Bayern will make a daunting trip to Gladbach at the start of September. They haven’t won at Borussia Park in the last four visits in all competitions. The very next match is against Xabi Alonso’s exciting Bayer Leverkusen team in Allianz Arena. If this was not hard, Bayern will also face RB Leipzig to close down the month.
The first Der Klassiker of the season against Dortmund is on 4th November 2024. The derby at Signal Iduna Park will be a little spicier after what happened last season. The reverse fixture is at the end of March 2024. The end of the season for Bayern also poses a challenge as Union Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim make four of the final five fixtures. The last match against Die Kraichgauer on 18 May 2024 is also an away match. Bayern certainly will not wait until the very end again to take another title home.
