Hosts Namibia finished the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023 as the unbeaten champions as they were the first team from the Africa Qualifier to book the place for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA.
On Tuesday (November 28), Namibia officially secured their place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after beating Tanzania by 58 runs to seal their fifth victory in the Qualifier.
Namibia started their journey at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023 with a victory against the ICC Full Member Zimbabwe by seven wickets (chased 133 runs target).
Uganda were the next victim of Namibia, where the hosts comfortably chased 115 runs target to win by six wickets.
Namibia then beat Rwanda and Kenya by 68 runs (DLS method) and six wickets, respectively, before defeating Tanzania by 58 runs to confirm their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Hosts Namibia finished the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023 as the champions after winning the last game of the tournament against Nigeria. After bundling out Nigeria for only 93 runs, the hosts reached the target in 13.2 overs after losing two wickets.
Previously, Namibia experienced the ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournaments in 2021 and 2022 editions. While they played the Super 12 stage in the 2021 edition, they were eliminated from the first round group stage in the 2022 edition.
