The 33-year-old Australian cricketer Steve Smith became the second batter to record centuries in two consecutive BBL innings after smashing hundreds against Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder.
Last Saturday (21st January), Steve Smith’s Sydney Sixers faced Sydney Thunder at Sydney Cricket Ground (Sydney).
After Sixers chose to bat first, the opener Smith slammed his third T20 century in 56 balls and remained not out after scoring 125 off 66 balls with the help of five boundaries and nine over-boundaries. His batting helped Sixers set up the first innings total of 187/2 in 20 overs, where the skipper Moises Henriques was the second highest scorer in that innings with 45 not out off 36 balls.

In their previous BBL match, Smith hit his maiden BBL century in 56 balls as the right-handed batter was run out on 101 off 56 balls (five fours and seven sixes).
In the BBL 2021/22 season, Ben McDermott created history by becoming the first cricketer in BBL to record back-to-back centuries.
Meanwhile, Steve Smith became the tenth batter in T20 cricket history to score centuries in two consecutive innings. Only French cricketer Gustav McKeon recorded hundreds in back-to-back T20 International innings.

Sydney Thunder: 5th lowest completed total in BBL history
Coming back to the latest BBL Sydney Derby, Thunder were bundled out for just 62 runs in 14.4 overs as Sixers won by 125 runs. While the opener David Warner (16) and no.8 batter Joel Davies (10) were the only Thunder batters to reach the double-digit figures, Sixers’ left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe claimed a four-wicket haul (4/10), and right-arm pacer Sean Abbott managed a three-wicket haul (3/11).
Thunder, who already recorded the lowest completed total in T20 cricket history (15) in the ongoing BBL season, now also managed the fifth-lowest completed total in BBL history after bundling out for only 62 runs.
