India leveled the three-match home T20I series against Australia by winning the second game at Nagpur this Friday (23rd September) night, which was shortened to an 8-over game due to wet outfield. During that game, Indian captain Rohit Sharma managed to put his name in two big record books in T20 International cricket. Apart from becoming the most six-hitter in T20I cricket, Rohit is also the leading run-scorer as an opener in T20I cricket history.
Due to the wet outfield, the match started 2 hours and 30 minutes late as the game was shortened to an eight-over game for each side. Trailing the series by 1-0, hosts skipper Rohit Sharma chose to field first after winning the toss in that Nagpur T20I.
While Australia scored 90/5 in eight overs, India successfully chased that target in 7.2 overs after losing four wickets. In that six-wicket victory, the home skipper Rohit played the most effective role (46 not out off 20 balls) that helped him to win the Player of the Match award. During that 230.00 strike-rate innings, the right-handed opening batter smashed four boundaries and four over-boundaries.

Rohit Sharma – Most T20I sixes
The leading T20I run-scorer Rohit Sharma started the game as the joint most six-hitter in T20I history as he had the equal record of New Zealand star Martin Guptill with 172 T20I sixes each. During the third ball of the chase in that shortened Nagpur T20I, Rohit surpassed Guptill by hitting a sixer over midwicket to the Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood.
The right-handed opening batter Rohit hit a total of four sixes in that chasing as the new T20I most sixes record is now 176.

In that same Nagpur T20I, Rohit broke another T20I record of Martin Guptill. By crossing his 20 runs in that chasing, Rohit surpassed Guptill (3170 runs) and became the leading T20I run-scorer as an opener. The right-handed Indian batter has now scored 3196 T20I runs as an opener.
