Ricky Ponting's captaincy record in Tests
Ponting is one of the most successful skippers in a longer format. He took over the captaincy of the Test team in 2004 when Steve Waugh retired and successfully led the side till 2010.
In 77 Test matches as captain, Ponting won 48 matches, lost 16, and 13 ended in a draw. He has the second-lowest number of losses to his name when it comes to skippers leading in more than 70 Test matches. Leading Australia in 230 ODI matches, Ponting won 165 games as a skipper. His count of 51 lost matches as captain is the lowest for any captain who has led his side in more than 150 matches. His winning percentage as a skipper in Tests is 62%, while his winning percentage in ODIs is 77%. He was the skipper of Australia for 10 years, which is yet another record. Ponting won 34 back-to- back ODIs as skipper. Also under Ponting’s captaincy Australian team won back to back 2 ODI World cups in 2003 and 2007 respectively.

Ricky Ponting's Captaincy Record in T20Is
Ponting didn’t lead Australia in T20Is for too long. Before his retirement in 2012, he was the skipper of the Australian T20I side during the 2007 T20I World Cup in South Africa when Australia lost to India in the semi-finals. Later on, he was the skipper of the side that played 2 T20Is against India in India in October 2007.
