Top 5 Most expensive overs in T20Is

After we did the list of the most expensive overs in ODIs, it is now time to talk about the most expensive overs in the shortest format of the game and here the batters have more say but it is still very tough to hit big overs because the bowlers have come up with various deliveries that can surprise the batter and get him out so the batters who have hit the most runs in one over in this format deserve all the praise.

In the short 17 year history of this format there have been many legendary overs that have made the life of Bowlers miserable and made the batter a star in just one over. A few on this list as well have hit 36 runs in one over which means is the full Monty. So, let’s see which are the 5 overs which make this list of the most expensive overs.

36 Runs (India vs England 2007)

What’s left to say about this over that has not been said till now, this is probably the most famous over in the history of T20I cricket and it us because the bowler who bowled this over was one of the fastest in the world in Stuart Broad and to hit six sixes in an over from his bowling is a special achievement. The batter to do this was none other than Yuvraj Singh from India and he absolutely decimated Broad for six sixes all around the ground in Durban. It was six hitting at its finest.

36 Runs (West Indies vs Sri Lanka 2021)

For 14 years it was only Yuvraj Singh who hit six sixes in an over but last year another name was added to this list and it was the explosive Kieron Pollard from West Indies when he smashed Akila Dananjaya in a match and he hit long Sixes against him and won the match for the West Indies easily.

34 Runs (New Zealand vs India 2020)

This over was a mix of two talented batters doing what they do best and that is hit fours and sixes and in this match against India they did just that as in one over from Shivam Dube they both hit 34 runs in total in that over and gave Shivam an unwanted record. Tim Seifert hit 6641 and then Ross Taylor got a no ball first and then the next three balls were 466.

32 Runs (England vs South Africa 2012)

We now go back to 2012 and in this match it was Jos Buttler who showed the world how big of a superstar he was about to Become when he absolutely destroyed Wayne Parnell from South Africa and he was a left arm fast bowler and to do this to him is staggering. The over was 662nb1nb4462 so it was a very long over as well.

32 Runs (England vs Afghanistan 2012)

This is one of those rare occasions where 3 batters combined to hit 32 Runs from this over and it was again England who did this against Afghanistan in 2012. Firstly Jos Buttler hit a 4 then Jonny Bairstow got nb6 then a no ball and then 1 run and in the end it was Luke Wright who smashed 6661 against Izatullah Dawlatzai.
