The vice-captain of the Malaysian national cricket team, Virandeep Singh stunned with his incredible bowling performance on Monday (11th April) during a Group Stage match of Nepal Pro Club Championship 2022. The 23-year-old slow left-arm orthodox bowler not only recorded a hat-trick during the final over of the first innings in that unofficial T20 match, but he also extended that to four wickets in four successive deliveries. Moreover, during that final over, his team managed to pick up six wickets in the last six balls, including a run-out.
It was the 8th game of the Nepal Pro Club Championship 2022, where Malaysia Club XI faced Push Sports Delhi at Siddharthanagar during a Group A match. Delhi captain Mrigank Pathak chose to bat first after winning the toss.
When Delhi were batting on 130/3 in 19 overs, Virandeep Singh got the duty to bowl the final over of that innings. It was his second spell in that game as he already had the bowling figures of 1-0-7-0. Though Virandeep is popular for his batting and wicketkeeping in international cricket as he has also played some part-time roles with the ball in hand, he is very a popular all-rounder in Malaysian cricket.
That unforgettable over
Virandeep started the final over of that innings with a wide delivery. Then he dismissed the Delhi skipper Mrigank Pathak, who was caught out at extra cover after scoring 39 runs off 27 balls.
On the very next ball, Ishan Pandey was run out on 19 runs (15 balls) as he struggled and failed to complete the second run in that delivery.
In the next two deliveries, Virandeep bowled both Anindo Naharay and Vishesh Saroha for the golden ducks. On the hat-trick ball of that left-arm spinner, Jatin Singhal had the same fate of golden duck as Virandeep successfully managed to claim the caught and bowled dismissal.
That innings ended with another bowled of Sparsh, who also recorded a golden duck, as Virandeep took four consecutive wickets as well as five wickets in the last six balls.
While Push Sports Delhi were restricted to 132/9 in 20 overs, Virandeep ended that innings with the bowling figures of 2-0-9-5.
