Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan skipper has been critical about India and its government time and again. He recently visited Pakistan occupied Kashmir for donating necessary requirements to combat the pandemic. During this visit, Afridi was seen talking ill about PM Narendra Modi. The video went viral on the internet and the Indian players took on to social media to express their distress over the comment.

Afridi was seen talking, “I am in your beautiful village, I am very delighted. I was planning to visit you all for a long time. The world is currently infected by such a big disease.” When it looked like he was talking out of only concern he made a comment stating, “But the bigger disease is in Modi’s mind.” He also said that Kashmiris in India were also supporting the Pakistan Army.

This comment did not go well with the Indian cricketing community and fans. They all were shocked and offended by this statement and voiced out against him on various social media platforms.

This is not the first time that the Former Pakistani Skipper took a dig at India. Last time, when Article 370 was abrogated, he had made remarks and also called out the UN intervention for the same.

Earlier, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh out of humanitarian concern asked the Indian citizens to donate to Afridi’s foundation.  They were also at the receiving end of the fans’ roasting because of this. Both of them did not take his comments kindly and Harbhajan told India today that his relations with Afridi are a closed chapter now.

Yuvraj Singh tweeted that he was really disappointed by Afridi’s comments. Also, he said that he had helped the foundation for the sake of humanity but will never do such an act again. “Really disappointed by @SAfridiOfficial‘s comments on our Hon'ble PM@narendramodi ji. As a responsible Indian who has played for the country, I will never accept such words. I made an appeal on your behest for the sake of humanity. But never again. Jai Hind”

Gautam Gambhir who had always shared intense rivalry with Afridi during their cricketing times also took to twitter to slam against his ill comments and wrote: “Pak has 7 lakh force backed by 20 Cr ppl sys 16 yr old man @SAfridiOfficial. Yet begging for Kashmir for 70 yrs. Jokers like Afridi, Imran & Bajwa can spew venom against India & PM @narendramodi ji to fool Pak ppl but won’t get Kashmir till judgment day! Remember Bangladesh?”

Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan also took a dig at him.

Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan tweeted: “Is waqt jab saari duniya corona se lad rahi hai us waqt bhi tumko kashmir ki padi hai. Kashmir humara tha humare hai aur humara hi rahega. Chaiyeh 22 crore le ao, humara ek, sava lakh ke barabar hai . Baaki ginti apne aap kar lena”.

He told Afridi that in such difficult times when the whole world is battling the coronavirus, all you care about is Kashmir. The state has been ours and will always be ours. If you want Kashmir, bring your 22 crore people to the battleground as our one man is equal to 125000 men.

“Gosh! What all a person must do to remain relevant! Even more so for a nation that is living on alms. So, better do something for your failed nation and leave #Kashmir alone. I am a proud Kashmiri and it is and will always remain an inalienable part of India. Jai Hind!”, tweeted Suresh Raina to show his disappointment.

The Indian fans and sporting community together voiced against Afridi’s comments on several social media platforms.
