During their crucial Group 2 match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 against Ireland Women at Cape Town, Pakistan Women’s opener and wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali scored an incredible century to guide her team to a giant win. She created history with that century as she became the first wicketkeeper-batter to record a WT20WC century.
After Ireland Women sent Pakistan Women to bat first, Muneeba’s 102 runs off 68 balls (14 fours) helped the Pakistan side to set the strong first batting total of 165/5 in 20 overs.
In reply, Ireland Women were bundled out for only 95 runs (16.3 overs), major thanks to left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu’s four-fer (4-0-18-4) – Pakistan Women’s second-best bowling figures in a WT20WC match (after Anam Amin’s 4-0-16-4 vs West Indies Women at Chennai on 16th March 2016).
With that big win by 70 runs, Pakistan Women are still fighting in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023.
