Abhimanyu Mishra is currently the world's youngest Chess Grandmaster and he achieved this feat at the age of just 12 years, 4 months and 25 days. He is an American chess genius hailing from New Jersey and has broken Sergey Karjakin's record of youngest grandmaster which was held for more than 19 years by him since 2002. He reached this milestone on June 30, 2021 by earning his 3rd norm at Vezerkepzo GM mix Swiss tournament by defeating GM Zoltan Varga in Budapest. He became chess Grandmaster at the age of 12 years, 7 months in 2002 and is presently 32 years old. He hails from Ukraine and started playing chess from the age of 5 and became international master at 11 itself. 3. Gukesh Dommaraju (12 years, 7 months, 17 days)
Gukesh Dommaraju became chess Grandmaster at the age of 12 years and 7 months, 17 days at 17th Delhi international chess Grandmaster open at Delhi. He was born in Chennai, India on 29th May, 2006 and became chess Grandmaster in 2019. He is still India's youngest grandmaster and is a genius chess prodigy who has won many chess tournaments and has a FIDE rating of 2659 and ranks 81 in world rankings. 4. Javokhir Sindarov (12 years, 10 months, 5 days)
Javokhir Sindarov is an Uzbekistan born Chess Grandmaster who achieved this feat in 12 years 10 months and 5 days. He cleared all his norms for GM in a span of 4 months in 2019. He has a current FIDE rating of 2609 and is an active chess prodigy who had participated in world chess championship 2021 and made it to final 32 before being knocked out by Kacper Piouron.
5. Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu (12 years, 10 months, 13 days)
Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, a recent sensation in the chess world after defeating Magnus Carlsen twice at various chess championships is an Indian chess prodigy who is the recipient of many awards and recognitions. He is also the youngest International Master in history. He was born in Chennai in 2005 in August and is the only chess prodigy to have three world youth titles. He has a current FIDE rating of 2642 and world ranking of 116. 6. Nodirbek Abdusattorov (13 years, 1 month, 11 days)
Nodirbek Abdusattorov, an Uzbekistan Chess prodigy who became grandmaster at just 13 years 1 month in 2017 by gaining his GM norms. He won World Rapid Chess Championship 2021 to be one the youngest to do so. He is currently ranked 80 and has a FIDE rating of 2661. He is the second best ranked player in Uzbekistan and is a chess prodigy in the making for the country.
7. Parimarjan Negi (13 years, 4 months, 22 days)
Parimarjan Negi is an Indian Chess prodigy who became grandmaster at the age of 13 years, 4 months and 22 days in 2006. Negi has played in Chess Olympiad for India at Norway and has won a bronze medal for the country. He is also a recipient of Arjuna Award conferred by Government of India in 2010. He won many tournaments during his chess career but retired from Chess in 2017 and is currently pursuing Phd at MIT, United States.
8. Magnus Carlsen (13 years, 4 months, 27 days)
Magnus Carlsen, The Mozart of chess, is the number 1 ranked chess player in the world and is one of the best ever to play the game. He became chess Grandmaster at the age of 13 years 4 months 27 days. This Norwegian chess prodigy is reigning 5 time world champion, 3 time world rapid chess champion, and 5 time world blitz chess champion. He is known for his style of playing chess which makes it hard for opponents to prepare against him. He is known to enjoy the middle part of the game and is also known for his computer-like moves during the game, making it difficult for opponents to predict his moves. His peak rating was 2882, highest FIDE rating so far and currently has a rating of 2864. 9. Wei Yi (13 years, 8 months, 23 days)
Wei Yi, a Chinese chess prodigy is known for gaining both International Master and Grandmaster titles in the same year in 2012 at the age of 13 years, 8 months, 23 days. Wei is the youngest ever to cross FIDE rating of 2700. He was also ranked either 1st or 2nd throughout his junior candidacy. Currently he has a world ranking of 22 and FIDE rating of 2727.
10. Raunak Sadhwani (13 years, 9 months, 28 days)
Raunak Sadhwani, born on Dec 2005 in Nagpur, India attained the title of Grandmaster in 2019 at the age of 13 years 9 months. He won the Isle of chess tournament against Viswanathan Anand in 2018. Currently he is ranked 156 and has a FIDE rating of 2619.
